Jon decides to take up golf....

Today we drove the 450K from Clearwater to Pemberton. Although quite a distance, the terrain was fairly varied, and the temperature too!

This is Lillooet. At this point the temperature was up to 34C. It reminded us of Arizona.

As we drove further south and west the terrain became more Alpine and it cooled off slightly.

A typical pit toilet or 'outhouse' No flush just a long drop, and lots of flies!

Joffre Lakes

Country Meadows B&B

We asked Brenda, the owner of the B&B, to recommend somewhere to eat, and she suggested the Big Sky Golf Club, which is right at the foot of Mount Currie. We would never have found it in a million years without directions.....this perfectly sums up why we prefer small friendly B&Bs to big impersonal hotels. We had a lovely meal in a perfect setting, and it was still 23C when we left at 9.30. The golf club was very smart indeed and we felt as though we'd finally arrived in society. We did several circuits of the car park before we left, just to make the most of feeling important.

  1. I was about to comment on the tremendous big skies in these photos of your journey, and then...hole in one... you're at the golf club. Remarkable. Big drinks and big smiles too.Par for the course I reckon.

    1. No Harvest Pale on offer I'm afraid but I had a half decent 14oz glass (cos that's how they measure them out here) of Whistler (the brewery) Whiskey Jack (which apparently is a type of bird). Whiskey Jack is an IPA. We've not been disappointed by Canadian ale and there are quite a few flourishing micro breweries. In fact, we have four bottles of Yukon Gold chilling as I type. Cheers and good health.

  2. Not our normal terrain, that's for sure...but it certainly beat the Sal on a Friday night!
