A little R 'n' R

This is the registration plate on our hire car....rather apt we thought!
The wildlife count is rather low so far....lots of ground squirrels and chipmunks ( the photo is of a very obliging ground squirrel... apparently chipmunks have a stripe on their head) some goat/sheep type things with big horns, an osprey and a deer grazing in someone's garden in the middle of Banff.

Today we had a fantastic hike at Lake Minnewanka (pronounced Minnie Wonka for all of you who are sniggering right now.) It is absolutely stunning, although eventually we came to this sign...this is the point on the trail where you are not allowed to proceed without bear spray and in a group of at least four. As we don't have any spray yet and there was absolutely no one else around we had to turn back.

  1. Love the number plate. I was going to ask if you had seen a bear yet! What no bear spray! It's at the top of my shopping list when we arrive in Banff, but of corse you will be able to tell us where to buy it from :-) I thought the lake would have been busy, Thanks for the correct pronunciation, could save some embarrassment! Stunning pictures.

  2. Just checking your progress. All looking very exciting. Scenery is stunning. Luckily the weather is still 27 degrees here, so we're having another BBQ. Enjoy the walking and looking forward to more pics.xx

  3. Nice podium stance there Jon, on the jetty under the flag. Reminiscent of Wiggins/Froome after their mountain excursions. Those azure sky and glimmering sea ringed mountains are the business!!
